Am not a huge fan of the assholes and empathy-crippled jackasses leading the #savethecover charge, but I do derive some amount of schadenfreude from the posts where they scream and stamp their feet over DC deciding to respect fans of Batgirl the character and the book by dropping the Joker Month cover.

Somebody took the picture of Superman and Batman in their new costumes and photoshopped a baseball cap on Superman's head while recoloring Batman's mecha suit to look like Pikachu. I saw that, and inspiration struck:

I want to be the very best
Like no one on Krypton ever was
To find heroes is my quest
To build the Justice League my cause
I will fight for truth, justice,
And the American way
Teach evildoers not to mess
With the laws they must obey
Justice League
Gotta fight them all
It's you and me
I know it's our destiny
You all are my best friends
In a world we must defend
Justice League
Gotta fight them all
Our hearts so true
Our courage shall follow through
You help me and I'll help you
Justice League
Gotta fight them all!

I kind of miss being in a relationship, but on the other hand the last major relationship I was in was with someone abusive enough to make me wary of ever getting into one again.

A quick reminder to you all: If you don't do something horrible to start with, you never have to worry about people making excuses for why your sincere and heartfelt apology for it doesn't matter.

Alexis was very lethargic when I got home from the haunt tonight, and she was crying in distress whenever I wasn't petting her. So I took her to the 24-hour vet, and they diagnosed her with Feline Infectious Peritonitis.

I held her while they gave her the shot to put her to sleep, and now I need to figure out a proper spot to bury her.

I know about the poem about the rainbow bridge and how the pets we love and who love us are waiting on the other side of us, and I understand that it's intended to make people feel better about this sort of thing, and I know that for some people it does. But if you're thinking about posting it in the comments, just don't, ok? I don't want to see that right now.

“'That's a nice song,' said young Sam, and Vimes remembered that he was hearing it for the first time.
'It's an old soldiers' song,' he said.
'Really, sarge? But it's about angels.'
Yes, thought Vimes, and it's amazing what bits those angels cause to rise up as the song progresses. It's a real soldiers' song: sentimental, with dirty bits.
'As I recall, they used to sing it after battles,’ he said. 'I've seen old men cry when they sing it,’ he added.
'Why? It sounds cheerful.'
They were remembering who they were not singing it with, thought Vimes. You'll learn. I know you will.”

I was given attention so now I must give attention in return.

Post a comment, and I will reply with one or two reasons why I think you're great. In return, you have to post this same meme on your blog and comment for other people.

Halo 4
Finished the campaign mode on this yesterday, and since I don't want to spoil it for anybody who's playing and hasn't reached the end yet, all I will say is WOW. They really did a hell of a job getting me emotionally involved in the story, and the ending was absolutely beautiful.

Then I mentioned elsewhere that I'd finished the game and loved it, and got lectured that FPS games should only be on PCs. Augh.

The fact that every single video posted on XBox Live buffers out every 30 seconds or so , when I can use my XBox's YouTube app to watch the very same videos without any buffering problem continues to boggle my mind.

I'm Internet-Famous!
One of my favorite webcomics (Skin Horse, which combines my love of comics with my love of Mad Science) had a recent kickstarter campaign where one of the rewards was a cameo appearance. Why do I mention this, you ask?

No particular reason.

Judge Dredd
This time, they managed to get everything right. It did the comics that inspired it justice in every way that the Stallone movie of awfulness did not.

Also, this is one of the few movies that got the 3D format right. If you have the option of seeing the 3D print, that is the one you should buy tickets for.

"Superman Saved My Life"
I don't know who originally posted this image, or to where. I just know that it's too good not to share.

Some people wonder why a grown (or at least aging) man would still read comics. This, right here? That's why. Sturgeon's Law may apply to them (and he may even be lowballing it in this genre's case), but every so often they manage to publish something not just good, but profound and even beautiful. This is one of those.

It's often said that Superman's true power is the power to inspire others. All-Star Superman #10, where this came from, is one of the best examples of him being exactly that.

It's never as bad as it seems. You're much stronger than you think you are. Trust me.

The tray my microwave dinner came in said "Single use only." I know I'm divorced, guys; no need to rub my nose in it...
